I was doing it "under the table" on and off for a year, thinking I was a hobbyist transitioning to pro. I shot a couple weddings for close to nothing and as I started researching and studying photography I learned the importance of legitimizing. Now I encourage all of my friends who are interested in photography to do the same. A lot of times people just want the creative aspect but don't want to handle the business part.
